My first public health experience was in Peace Corps, Nicaragua. I served a small, vey impoverished island community. A small island community welcomed me with open arms, taught me Spanish and gave me insight and experience for my future career in Public Health.
I have been a Public Health Nurse in Contra Costa County for almost 35 years.
My community service has been in East Contra Costa, for the most part. I worked as a Home Health Nurse for 10 years, a PHN in the field for 10 years and as a PHN in foster care for 13 years. Currently, I work as a PHN Pediatric Nurse Manager for the team of nurses who work in East Contra Costa.
I have been on LMCHD Board of Directors since 2004. I was appointed to fill a vacant position, which I served for two years. I have been gratefully reelected twice. I have served as President, Vice President and Secretary over the years.
